The Lightweight Deflectometer (LWD) is an advanced tool used for assessing the bearing capacity of soils and construction materials. This innovative device, employed by AWK Ground Testing, incorporates a geophone and high-precision load cell to measure deflection under dynamic loading conditions. With a standard test setup featuring a 300mm diameter plate, the LWD applies a dynamic load through a buffer system to generate a load pulse lasting between 15 and 30 milliseconds. This process allows for the application of a target stress of approximately 100kN/m2 to the test surface.
One of the primary advantages of LWD testing is its ability to deliver instant results, providing valuable insights into the load-bearing characteristics of soils and materials on-site.
